It’s been 25 years since the devastating event that changed America forever. Join Clayton’s first responders at Municipal Park at 9am for a heartfelt tribute to the lives lost. The ceremony includes a flag display—343 fire department, 72 police department, and eight EMS—to represent first responders who perished in the line of duty that day.
“Sip & Spin” Wheel-throwing Clay Class

On the second Friday of the month, you can spend an evening sipping your favorite adult beverage while you throw clay on a pottery wheel at ARTmosphere Community Arts Center in Clayton. Just outside of the Raleigh suburb of Clayton, Smith’s Nursery hosts its annual autumn welcome with the Fall Open House. In addition to finding farm-fresh products—including homemade ice cream—you and your family and friends can set out on a hayride, browse the artisanal items, search for the perfect pick in the farm’s pumpkin patch, and so much more.
Smith’s Nursery’s master gardeners will also present a Fall Vegetable Seed Starting Workshop at 10am, where you’ll finish with your own tray of 25 seedlings. Choose from up to 10 cool weather crops to get started on a new season of growth and harvest.
At 4:00, enjoy a culinary experience, Farm-to-Table Tomato Pie Cooking Class and Dinner. You’ll make the mouthwatering pie from the homegrown tomatoes, plus grilled side dishes using freshly picked vegetables from the farm. Learn kitchen tips and techniques. Dinner is served against a backdrop of the natural scenery, perfect for an early fall evening.
Divination Party
September 19-20
Toad Song Farm hosts a two-day Divination Party, a truly unique gathering. Do you interpret the tarot? Do you read palms, tea leaves, oracle cards, pendulums, or bones? Toad Song Farm invites diviners for a two-day gathering to share experiences, knowledge, and even tools of the trade. Readings begin at noon, and participants are encouraged to bring a tent and camp out on the 35-acre farm.

The ARTmosphere Community Center showcases the work of Clayton artist Bronwen Fullington in the Everyday Sacred Textile Art Exhibit. Known for her whimsy and love of color, Bronwen’s work reflects folk art and spiritual traditions. She blends fibers and mixed media to create art that tells stories. This exhibit displays an extensive collection of intriguing and inspiring works.
September 26
You can pick your pumpkins this fall or make your own. Spend a Saturday morning at ARTmosphere Community Arts Center learning how to make a handbuilt pumpkin form with clay. You’ll shape it by hand and apply your glaze to your creation, which is then dried and fired for a finished pumpkin that is uniquely you. Teens and adults are welcomed, so this can become an outing for family or friends.
Clayton Fear Farm
Weekends, starting October 2
Boyette Family Farms puts the “eek” into Clayton weekends in October. The farm is transformed into a Halloween fright fest for the annual Clayton Fear Farm, one of the most popular events in the entire region.
Hop on the hay wagon for a scary ride where you’re likely to be visited by the spirits of generations of the Phear family. They’ve been known to leave the cemetery to haunt the acres around the farm. Then, tour the haunted houses, which include new horrors this year. Step inside The Slaughterhouse, if you dare, and The Black Hole, as long you can handle the dizzying, dark experience.
When you’re ready to tone it down a bit—but only a bit—tour the Farm House of the legendary Phear family. You’ll soon find out why very few visitors ever came to dinner. Clayton Fear Farm will haunt your memory for years to come!
October 3
Celebrate the magnificent music of Motown, renowned for getting people out of their seats and on their feet. The one-night-only performance at The Clayton Center will live up to its name, Dancing in the Aisles: The Ultimate Motown Experience. The energetic concert brings The Shades of Blue to the Clayton stage to pay a song-filled tribute to Motown and the many songs you’ve loved over the years.
October 3
The annual homage to German beers takes place at Clayton Rocks. Beginning at 10am and continuing till 11pm, OktoberFest features a hopping schedule of live music, food, and beers from Clayton’s own Deep River Brewing Company and Red Oak Brewery. Whether you’re a lager lover, stout connoisseur, or other beer aficionado, don’t miss a lively day of brews, music, food, and fun.
October 22-25
A perennial favorite festival, the Clayton Harvest Festival is one of the largest events in Johnston County. 2026 marks the 75th year of the fall celebration, which attracts more than 30,000 visitors annually. Wander through the midway with its carnival rides, games, fair food, and live entertainment. The four-day event includes a day-long Latin American Festival (October 25), Kids Village, and Car Show (October 24). October 23
You might get a bit spooked with the activities planned for the annual Boo Bash, held at the Clayton Community Center. Dress up and join an all-inclusive event that’s organized by the Clayton Parks & Recreation Department. Games, activities, and a few frights are among the evening’s plans.

Give your little goblins a head start on Halloween. Downtown Clayton hosts Main Street Trick-or-Treat. Local businesses will hand out treats to young children who can walk from Horne Square to Town Square to fill their Halloween bag, basket, or bucket with goodies. A petting zoo awaits your kids at Town Square, along with other activities. Whether you have little ones or not, come and see the costumes and happiness!
October 31
Put on your costume (or not) and head to Downtown Clayton’s Town Square on Halloween, from noon to 8pm. Set out a blanket for a picnic—either pack your own or satisfy your appetite from the food trucks’ fare. Live music of various genres, family-friendly games, and an outdoor craft market add to the festivities of Haunted Harvest. It’s all treats—no tricks—in Downtown Clayton on Halloween this year.
November 2
The Town of Clayton comes together to honor those who have served in the military. The Veterans Recognition Ceremony takes place at The Clayton Center. The evening serves up patriotic music and a heartfelt tribute for our country’s veterans. Please join other Clayton residents and business owners to recognize the dedication of our military servicepeople and the importance of their service.
November 7
Get comfy at the Friendsgiving Pajama Party, held at the Woman’s Club of Clayton, from 7 to 10pm. Food, drinks, games, and laughter will fill this evening of sisterhood. Bring your friends, make new ones, or both. But no overnight stays are allowed! And the group warns that if you bring your pillow, you’ll have to stick around and help clean up
November 8
Landon Estate supports the Autism Society of North Carolina with this monthly fundraising series. Held on the lawn, Pearls, Bubbles and Boards is an oyster roast, serving, raw, grilled, and steamed local oysters, along with charcuterie, champagne, a curated wine selection, non-alcoholic beverages, and artisanal cheeses. Triangle Lawn Games is setting up a variety of games to play during the afternoon. And children under 12 eat free!
November 14
Grammy winners Linda Davis and Lang Scott are joined by acclaimed songwriter-comedian Bill Whyte for a one-of-a-kind concert, Evening in the Round. Acoustic music, storytelling, and fun are on the schedule for this Clayton Center event. Relax, unwind, and laugh as the three performers demonstrate their musical talent and wit in the spirit of Nashville’s legendary entertainment in the round style.
